Question. What is the Navy’s estimated cost to complete the cleanup of Hunters Point Shipyard? What is the budget for the current fiscal year and each of the next 2 fiscal years?

Answer. Cost to complete for fiscal year 2004 and out is $103.9 million. Budgets for current and next 2 fiscal years are $40.2 million in fiscal year 2003, $21.6 million in fiscal year 2004, and $1.9 million in fiscal year 2005. Budget estimates for fiscal year 2004 and fiscal year 2005 assume the receipt of land sale revenue to finance cleanup costs.

Question. Given the Navy’s recent discovery of more than 100 boxes of previously unknown Shipyard radiological documents, will the new radiological review and survey work come at the expense of other important, and budgeted, cleanup activities or will the Navy find other funds to pay for it?

Answer. Funding to pay for the expanded Historical Radiological Assessment (HRA) will not be taken from funds budgeted for cleanup at Hunters Point.

Question. Does the Navy see any remaining hurdles to moving forward with the Conveyance Agreement in the next 1–2 months?

Answer. The Navy is working diligently with the City of San Francisco to reach agreement on the Hunters Point Conveyance Agreement.  The Navy’s goal is to achieve a mutually agreeable solution to the remaining two significant issues (utilities transition plan and finalization of the deeds) within the next 1 or 2 months.

Dr. Sumchai describes the nepotism, the corruption in the Hunters Point Shipyard disaster.
Nepotism is defined by Webster’s dictionary as political favoritism based on family relationships. In an email to the San Francisco Bay View, Laurence Pelosi verified that he was a Lennar senior executive in March of 2004 at the time San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, his cousin for whom he had served as mayoral campaign treasurer, had signed the Hunters Point Shipyard Conveyance Agreement at the behest of Laurence’s Aunt Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

In the report it details how the cleanup decided to remove from the public record the elements that had short half lives under the theory that after so many years they would not be as much of a threat. Not only is this illogical, it doesn’t even begin to conceive of the idea of how half lives work. These elements are present, some of them are made by the other elements as they decay, they do not just disappear after the stated time frame. It is idiotic. and it is reckless. And these elements have to be cleaned up before any housing can be built which is impossible. The best solution is get all of the people away from these areas and figure out a way to stop the elements from polluting further.
Basically the Navy nuked San Francisco and for some strange reason, Pelosi, Feinstein, Newsom, Willie Brown and Kamala Harris have people living on these sites.

They will receive comparable-size housing units in the new development. Most tenants of color live on the northeastern side facing Oakland and Berkeley and experience discriminatory treatment designed to exclude them from the new development.“

Another $22 million down the rat hole?

“The U.S. Navy had its every-three-months dog and pony show at the Treasure Island Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meeting on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. The previous meeting included a Tetra Tech representative and a loud confrontation, but this time Tetra Tech representatives were not on the panel since there are now two Tetra Tech managers in federal prison for falsifying the cleanup records at Hunters Point and an ongoing grand jury investigation with likely more sealed indictments that could lead to further criminal action against the top management of Tetra Tech.

Since the scandal blow-up, however, Congresswoman Pelosi has arranged to get another $42 million from the budget reconciliation bill for more retesting on formerly tested contaminated land in the Superfund site at Hunters Point Shipyard. This is after $1 billion has already been expended by the U.S. government to clean up Hunters Point Shipyard and Treasure Island, which are both Superfund sites.”

“Behind the continued effort to push forward with both the developments at Hunters Point Shipyard and Treasure Island are Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who have deep financial connections to this development of the Shipyard and Treasure Island. Feinstein’s husband, Richard Blum, financially pushed for the development; his company has the primary contract to build condos at Treasure Island. Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi’s nephew, Laurence Pelosi, was an executive of Lennar – in charge of real estate acquisitions – while she was pushing for the development and getting hundreds of millions for the “cleanup.””

“Former Mayor Willie Brown had been instrumental in arranging for the U.S. Navy to prepare the site to turn it over to the city for future million-dollar condos. In the meantime, they placed low income African American families and homeless on the Island.”

California Senator Kamala Harris who is running for President of the United States was accused on 3/14/19 with obstruction of justice and involved in a corruption cover-up at the contaminated radioactive SF Treasure Island site by two former residents Felita Sample and Andre Patterson. 3/14/19

San Francisco built public housing on two EPA Superfund Sites that contain Nuclear Radiation from the cleaning of US Ships damaged by Atomic and Hydrogen bomb tests in the Pacific.

“California Senator Kamala Harris who is running for President of the United States was accused on 3/14/19 with obstruction of justice and involved in a corruption cover-up at the contaminated radioactive SF Treasure Island site by two former residents Felita Sample and Andre Patterson. They were attending a press conference by nuclear health and safety whistleblowers who worked for Tetra Tech which was involved in the falsification of testing results in the $1 billion dollar Eco-fraud scandal. This is the largest Eco Fraud in the United States but has not been covered by the major corporate media. Sample and Patterson are both cancer survivors who say that their cancers were directly caused by the highly contaminated Naval nuclear training site at the island. Kamala Harris who was formerly San Francisco District Attorney and California Attorney General before becoming a Senator, was personally aware of the charges of falsification of testing at SF Treasure Island and also the Hunters Point shipyard. While in her position in San Francisco and as California Attorney General she refused to conduct any investigation about the illegal firing of 6 Tetra Tech whistleblowers as well as other whistleblowers at the shipyard. Two managers of Tetra Tech are presently in prison for engaging in falsification of testing of radioactive material by Tetra Tech. Senator Kamala Harris has remained completely silent about this massive $1 billion criminal fraud scandal despite being personally contacted by residents and whistleblowers. She has also been silent about continued Federal contracts to Tetra Tech and it’s subsidiaries despite the massive criminal conspiracy to defraud the US government and public about the radioactive clean-up at Hunters Point Naval shipyard and Treasure Island.

“In San Francisco Hunters Point shipyard on February 8, 2017, the US Navy, EPA, California Department of Toxic Substances and San Francisco Health Department held an orchestrated dog and pony show to assure the people of San Francisco and the Hunters Point/Bayview community that they are properly protecting the people after health and safety whistleblowers have exposed the falsification of testing at the site for years.

After the 2nd world ships were tested in the Marshall Islands with nuclear bombs, brought to the shipyard and sandblasted with the resulting radioactivity being dispersed in the bay and area around the military site and housing in Hunters Point. It later became a Superfund site and under the Brownfield Act developers were given the land for housing and other development.

Additionally the African American community and their children have suffered serious and wide spread health problems including cancer and a 50% rate of asthma in children.

Government agencies are supposed to be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of the highly dangerous Superfund radioactive toxic site have yet they have refused to call for criminal investigations and prosecution of Tetra Tech and Test America which were involved in bullying, harassing and terminating employees that spoke out about the systemic falsification of the tests of the toxics and dangerous materials at the site. SF Supervisor Malia Cohen said she needed to see a lawyer to investigate whether there should be a criminal investigation of corruption and illegal terminations of whistleblowers and trusted the Navy. San Francisco city officials including the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and politicians including Mayor Ed Lee, Nancy Pelosi and Dianne Feinstein have also refused to call for any hearings or investigations of the violation of health and safety rights and illegal terminations of whistleblowers including Michael Madry, a quality control manager of Test America and Federal OSHA Whistleblower Protection Program investigator and lawyer Darrell Whitman who was fired by OSHA chief David Michaels and former Department of Labor DOL secretary Tom Perez. Whitman was investigating the retaliation of Test American whistleblower Michael Madry and was prevented from protecting him through a merit determination. These workers are still fighting for their jobs back and have gone to many of these agencies including the EPA and OSHA to address these issues and they have charged that top government officials including former DOL Secretary Tom Perez have been engaged in a criminal obstruction of justice to prevent an investigation of the collusion of these agencies with the companies that are terminating health and safety whistleblowers.”
